STE was engaged to perform the annual electrical balance of plant maintenance at a wind farm on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, a service undertaken for this client over many years.

These works were inclusive of the inspections and relevant tests on the 22kV and 132kV equipment in the switchyard, including the switching room and the control room, as per a client defined maintenance schedule.

The equipment in the switchyard consisted of the following items:

  • 22/132kV Main Power Transformer
  • 132kV Instrument transformers
  • 132kV Circuit Breaker
  • 132kV Disconnector
  • 132kV Surge Arresters; and
  • 22/0.415kV Auxiliary Transformer.

The equipment in the control room consisted of a 22kV switchboard with 10 Siemens circuit breakers each with a protection relay. Our team of technicians were able to complete the required works during a five-day period, and kept the client informed of all defects and anomalies detected.

Detailed reports were provided to the client, which included the test results and recommendations for the rectification of the defects.
